SAX: A Tool for Studying Congestion-Induced Surfer Behavior
نویسندگان
چکیده
User reaction to traffic congestion can have severe impact on network stability and significant implication for traffic engineering. For example, users who persist in large peer-to-peer transfers despite congestion can drive the network into congestion collapse. On the other hand, users who abort large transfers can smoothen self-similar traffic. We present a tool, called SAX, for studying congestion-induced behavior of web surfers. SAX extracts information from HTTP packet traces and infers clicks, abortions and sessions. Measurements with SAX show how users back-off when congestion occurs.

Speech Recognition Using Hidden Markov Model
Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) are widely used in pattern recognition applications, most notably speech recognition. Speech samples are recorded using a wave surfer tool. Wave surfer is a simple but powerful interface. The sound can be visualized and analyzed in several ways with the help of this tool. The recorded signal (test data) is compared with the original signal (trained data) using Hidden...

متن کاملInvestigating on the Effects of Congestion Pricing on Increasing Public Transit Share
Nowadays, traffic management policy in metropolitans is focused on increasing the share of public transit. The limitation of supply and slowing growth of road infrastructures have provided congestion for users who choose personal cars. Therefore, applying demand management policies which decrease the utility of personal cars and increase the tendency to public transit can be very important. Con...
متن کاملIdentifying the TCP Behavior of Web Servers
This paper describes a tool for characterizing the TCP behavior of a remote host on the Internet. The tool allows the researcher to manipulate TCP communication with a remote TCP. The specific goal in building this tool was to answer the question “What fraction of web servers use NewReno instead of Reno or Tahoe TCP congestion control mechanisms, for TCP connections with non-Sack-enabled client...
متن کاملStudying Transition Behavior of Neutron Point Kinetics Equations Using the Lyapunov Exponent Method
The neutron density is one of the most important dynamical parameters in a reactor. It is directly related to the control and stability of the reactor power. Any change in applied reactivity and some of dynamical parameters in the reactor causes a change in the neutron density. Lyapunov exponent method is a powerful tool for investigating the range of stability and the transient behavior of the...
